SREST SOMAY

"Nature's imagination is so much greater than a human being that she will never let us relax"                                                                     - Richard Feynman

I am a PhD Student at IIT Delhi, working on understanding defects structures in low dimensional materials, advised by Prof. Krishna Balasubramanian.  I am particularly interested in understanding charge transport across defects and interfaces in  low-dimensional materials for it's application in field effect transistors. In my free time, I like listening to songs, outing with friends and reading about various well known and relatively less known scientist's struggle with their research.

RESEARCH INTEREST

As a typical Material Scientist, I try to find structure-property correlations, in fact, finding such correlations in semiconductors are novel and interesting. I try to look for the effect of various defect structures on the charge transport property in different low dimensional materials.

I typically use chemical vapor deposition technique to deposit MoS2 film alongside lithography and sputtering to design various Field effect transistors (FETs) to study their transport properties. Further, I also use density functional theory (DFT) to understand and predict the electronic properties of various TMDs structure.
